ELECTRIC VEHICLE OUTLET INSTALLATION

For Teslas or any electric vehicle.

Forward-thinking automotive and solar panel technology is enjoying a resurgence in recent years thanks in no small part to Tesla, Inc., with the California-based company’s vehicle sales in the U.S. increasing from 48,000 in 2017 to 182,400 in 2018, according to a 2019 report by Automotive News.

As customer demand for electric cars surges, so too does the need for reliable charging outlets to ensure that customers are never left without power. Absolute Electic understands that customer demand for electric cars needs to be met with expert knowledge and the confidence to offer Tesla owners personal vehicle charging station installations at home for quick and easy access. Tesla’s reliable network of 480-volt Supercharger stations continues to grow globally, but for those Tesla owners who would previously spend five minutes at the pump when they were reliant on traditional fuels, now must wait much longer at public charging areas.

Additionally, these areas are sometimes not widely available depending on what region of the country a Tesla driver may reside in. With that in mind, Absolute Electric gives responsible Tesla owners the freedom that comes with being able to charge their Model S and X cars quickly and conveniently at their home and on their schedule as we did for this Oyster Bay client.

Absolute Electric offers the installation of at-home wall connector charging stations at competitive prices, where these stations serve as an upgrade to the standard charging cord provided with the purchase of any Tesla vehicle. A professionally installed wall connector can fully charge a Tesla Model S battery in approximately six to nine hours and a Model X battery can be charged in six-and-a-half to ten hours.

Installing a Level 2 EV charger at home turns an overnight trip to the garage into a full battery by morning, instead of the slow trickle a standard wall outlet provides. A Level 2 unit runs on a dedicated 240-volt circuit, the same class of supply as an electric dryer or range, and typically adds dozens of miles of range per hour rather than a handful. The real question for most Long Island homeowners is not the charger itself but whether the home's electrical service can support it. Many older houses still run 100-amp panels that are already close to full, and adding a 40 or 50-amp charging circuit without checking capacity is how you end up tripping the main or overheating a panel.

A correct install starts with a load calculation to confirm your service can carry the charger, or to identify whether a panel upgrade should come first. From there we run a dedicated 240-volt circuit on the right breaker and wire gauge, mount the unit, and place it so the cable reaches your vehicle comfortably, in a garage or outdoors in a weather-rated enclosure. GFCI protection and proper grounding are built in, and the circuit is sized to the charger's amperage so it runs cool and reliably. The job is permitted and inspected, which keeps it code-compliant and preserves eligibility for any applicable utility or state incentives.

EV Charger FAQs

What is the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 charging?
Level 1 uses a standard 120-volt outlet and adds only a few miles of range per hour. Level 2 runs on a dedicated 240-volt circuit and adds dozens of miles per hour, which is why most homeowners install one for reliable overnight charging.
Will my existing panel support an EV charger?
It depends on your service size and current load. Many older Long Island homes run 100-amp panels already near capacity, so we perform a load calculation first and recommend a panel upgrade only if your service genuinely needs more headroom.
Can a charger be installed outdoors?
Yes. We install in garages or outdoors using weather-rated, outdoor-listed equipment with proper grounding and GFCI protection. We also position the unit so the cable comfortably reaches your vehicle's charging port wherever you park.
Is a permit required for a home EV charger?
Yes. A new 240-volt charging circuit is permitted electrical work and should be inspected. Proper permitting keeps the install code-compliant, safe, and eligible for any utility or state EV incentives that require documented, inspected work.
How do I get a quote for installation?
Call (516) 736-8300 and we will review your panel, service capacity, and preferred charger location. You receive up-front pricing that reflects whether a simple circuit run or a panel upgrade is needed before we schedule the work.
