Long Island Commercial Rewiring

Restaurant Rewiring

The newly designed Branchinelli's Pizza & Restaurant prides itself on serving fine Italian cuisine and is a favorite among area residents who frequently visit for tasty comfort food and an inviting and authentic dining experience with plenty of atmosphere. In need of an update to improve and modernize the restaurant, Absolute Electric was hired to implement improvements to Branchinelli’s equipment and hardware that were in line with the needs and demands of the popular Italian eatery. So as not to interrupt business, Absolute Electric spent just a single day working during the restaurant’s off hours—completing the work before Branchinelli’s opened for the day to welcome customers.

Absolute Electric technician(s) ran dedicated circuits at the restaurant in order to better accommodate the upgraded equipment that was desired for the job. This included new energy efficient refrigeration equipment manufactured by some of the leading names in the industry, and hood controllers designed to expel unwanted odor and air contaminants from the kitchen area.

Additionally, Absolute Electric installed LED lighting and specialty lighting, where the lightbulbs conform to the exact shape and base design selected by Branchinelli’s to perform their specified lighting task.

Commercial rewiring replaces aging or overloaded wiring throughout a building with conductors, devices, and protection that match how the space is used today. On Long Island, many retail blocks, offices, and small-industrial buildings in Nassau and Suffolk still run on wiring installed decades ago, sometimes with cloth-insulated conductors, undersized neutrals, or circuits stretched far past their original intent. Telltale signs include warm or discolored outlets, breakers that trip under normal load, flickering fluorescent and LED fixtures, a burning smell near panels, and open junction boxes left behind by prior tenant work. Rewiring resolves these at the root instead of patching symptom by symptom.

A sound rewire begins with a survey of existing circuits, loads, and code violations, followed by a plan that stages the work to keep the business operating. We pull new runs in conduit or appropriate wiring methods, separate dedicated circuits for kitchens, servers, and motor loads, bring grounding and bonding up to current code, and label the panel so future work is straightforward. Three-phase buildings get their feeders and sub-panels checked for balance and capacity as part of the job. Everything is filed under permit with the town or village so inspection sign-off protects the Certificate of Occupancy and satisfies insurers reviewing the property.

Services that pair with a rewire, and where we work

A rewire often arrives alongside other upgrades, so these links point to the work that commonly accompanies it: panel and service upgrades to carry the new circuits, dedicated equipment and kitchen wiring, code-violation corrections, and surge protection. The location links cover the Long Island communities we serve across Nassau and Suffolk, from Village commercial districts to warehouse and light-industrial corridors.

Commercial Rewiring FAQs

What are the signs a commercial building needs rewiring?
Warm or discolored receptacles, breakers tripping under ordinary load, flickering fixtures, a burning odor near the panel, and visible cloth-insulated or spliced wiring all point to aging systems. Repeated tenant build-outs that left circuits overloaded are another common trigger for a full rewire.
Will rewiring shut our business down?
Not usually for the full duration. We stage runs area by area and schedule cutovers for off-hours so most of the space keeps operating. Any necessary power interruption is planned with you ahead of time to keep lost trading hours to a minimum.
Why is older Long Island commercial wiring a concern?
Many Nassau and Suffolk buildings were wired before modern equipment loads existed, so neutrals, grounding, and circuit counts fall short of today's demand. Decades of added fixtures, kitchens, and electronics can push original wiring well past its safe capacity.
Do you file permits for commercial rewiring?
Yes. Rewiring is filed with the relevant Long Island town or village and inspected before sign-off. Permitted, inspected work protects your Certificate of Occupancy, keeps insurers satisfied, and avoids surprises if the building is later sold or re-leased.
How do we get a rewiring estimate?
We start with a site survey of your existing circuits, loads, and any code issues, then provide up-front pricing and a phased schedule. Rewiring scope varies widely by building, so an on-site review gives the most accurate plan and price.
